Nnamdi Azikiwe University held her matriculation ceremony for the 2016\2017 academic session on Friday 27th January at the University Library premises. At about 11:39am, the ceremony which was anchored by professor Ken Nwogu began with the national anthem. The matriculation ceremony was declared open after the opening speech by the Vice Chancellor Professor Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku. In his speech, he advised the students to give their best to their studies, take attendance to lectures with utmost seriousness and most of all shun all forms of cultism.
The ceremony proceeded with the alphabetical procession of the 7002 matriculants into the fourteen different faculties of the institution.
All matriculants took an oath, the Declaration of Loyalty, to abide by the laid down rules and regulations of the institution. After which the matriculation was declared closed by the vice Chancellor at about 1.38pm.
Highlights of the event were entertainment (dance and display) by different fellowships on campus, cultural displays by different state-student associations, feast by parents and loved ones who graced the occasion amongst others. Most guests were stuck in traffic jam till late at night as a result of the massive number of people present at the matriculation ceremony.
