The Management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, is to increase the monthly salary of its sanitation workers. The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Nasir Maiturare, made the promise at an interactive session with staff of the sanitation unit on Monday, 24th April, 2017
The Vice-Chancellor was responding to the demands made by the workers who among other things, called on the University’s management to consider increasing their monthly pay as the current amount being paid them was no longer in line with the current economic situation nationwide. The sanitation workers decried the way and manner in which students litter the school premises and therefore called on the University’s management to come up with measures to the address the situation.
Speaking later in an interview with Click 89.9 FM, the University’s Vice-Chancellor said the new salary structure would be implemented this month. He also called on the students to keep the institution clean, even as he welcomed them back from the first semester break. In attendance at the interactive session include the University’s deputy vice-chancellor academic, the registrar, director consultancy, the school’s sanitation coordinator, among others.
